A sitemap is a file that includes the different pages of a website and the path to them through the sections of the site. The pages can be sorted visually or as simple text and such a file is really useful for two reasons. The first is that it makes it much easier for the site visitors to find a particular page they need, so that they can navigate your Internet site better and a lot faster, which in turn will increase their user experience and it will be more likely that they will revisit the site or will recommend it to other people. The second reason is the fact that a sitemap enables search engines to index your content better, especially if it's updated, so if users are searching for certain content, it is more likely that they'll find your website since it will be listed higher in their search results. If your Internet site is not indexed efficiently, it might not show up for some searches, so even if you have what people need, they will simply not get to your site.
